What a great idea from San Diego's Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Every week their science educators head out to Barrio Logan to lead a science experience for free. This same idea of community outreach/promotion can be applied to any business, school, or organization and community. If you want to increase users, membership, applicants, or clients, set up a program where you go out into the community and offer your services or knowledge for free. You can get a lot out of doing something for the community and vice versa. If you do it regularly you'll have people who will follow you online and regularly check your calendar for events and locations. Do a pop-up sewing class, teach guitar, lead a science lab with your most dynamic teacher, a taste test for new recipes at your restaurant, etc. You might be able to partner with another business to spinsor the events and/or find grants for materials and promotion. Community organizations can often book a room at your local library or school for free or a nominal rental fee. You can take your talents and do something to help your community.
