My Hero - Wangari Matthai on Brainpop
Wangari Matthai: revolutionary, professor, founding The Green Belt Movement, and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize Nobel Peace Prize winner 2004. Unfortunately she passed in 2011 but if I had to pick just one person with whom I'd most want to spend the day walking and talking, it would be Wangari Matthai. Her committment to our world, to women, to developing community, to preserving and repairing nature is inspirational.
I have a hard time starting projects. They just seem so very big, even when it's a small project, but when I heard Ms. Matthai share her story about the little humming bird, it was so inspirational that to this day, I remember it and it helps me get started.
There's a video feature on Brainpop with activities connecting to democracy, importance of nature, and so much more.https://www.brainpop.com/science/famousscientists/wangarimaathai/
"If I persist on what is right...I can bring change from the world. That I learned from Wangari Matthai." - Marion Kamau watch the video about how SHE PERSISTED and her legacy will continue to inspire us worldwide. She sacrificed her life for her community.
