-fundraisers easily become the default, we need to do something else
-do a lot of service-learning in lower grades so students get ideas beyond fundraising
-if you are going to do fundraisers do them in Builders Club or Interact or another schoolwide club, not as a CP
-save a lot of examples to share, high, mediums, and lows
-exhibit to parents and community
-research projects are hard to find, but important as an academic contribution to the community
-encourage sustainability
-have some projects ready to go for struggling students to take on
-promote, promote, promote to the greater community
-take a ton of photos at every stage
-not all projects succeed and that's a good thing
-failed projects teach us more than successful projects
-teach parents about the projects and how misteps are opportunity in disguise
-let students struggle
-you can never take too many photos
-groups can create a Google doc to use as their shared process journal
-students need explicit lessons in social skills and self-management in lower grades in order to have the skills they'll need to complete their CP as a group
-remind students to document what doesn't work
-working in a group can be more difficult than alone
-help students identify needs in the community such as at the library, senior center, or Town Council office
-struggling students can pick-up and build on projects from the past and use the prior students as experts and guides
-the only way to fail a CP is to do nothing and/or refuse to reflect honestly and completely on achievement or lack of achievement on the objectives.
